Tina Nichols Coury grew up in L.A. the youngest of four children to a single saint of a mom. Attending 12 years of parochial school, Tina found drawing a sure way to get out of homework, suck up to the nuns and make a few bucks sketching on book covers or desks. Tina worked as an illustrator as she attended art college in California and created paintings for such clients as Warner Brothers Records, Universal Studios, and Bon Appetite Magazine.
Marrying record executive Al Coury in 1988, Tina pursued her love of writing and painting full time. Tina has exhibited her art in galleries around the world.
Having a passion for children’s literature, Tina has been an active member of the SCBWI since 1994. Bringing her unique artistic view to all her stories, Tina sold her first manuscript to Dutton’s Children’s Books, “Hanging Off Jefferson’s Nose, growing up on Mount Rushmore.”
Sticking to the philosophy of “have fun, be kind and eat chocolate,” Tina pursues life with the enthusiasm of a 10 year old.
Ms. Coury lives on the beach in Oxnard, California with her husband Al, the Keyboard Kitties and Star the Wonder Dog.
